Karen Beardsley (PhD), Fulbright Professor, James H. Thorne (PhD), Research Scientist and Mary T. Burke, Director of Conservation and Environmental Leadership from Universiy of California, Davis visited the Institute on 17th June, 2016. Discussion were held for a possible Environmental Leadership Program to be delivered jointly by UWICE and UC, Davis. MPIO & UWICE Signs MoU : Donates Collars

On 29th May 2016, the Directors of the Max Planck Institute for Ornithology and Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environment signed the second MoU extending their research collaboration for next five years. The day was marked with donation of 15 gps and acceleration sensor collars.These collars will be deployed to study trans-humane and livestock movements. [Read More...]

Convocation for Eighth Batch Certificate Course

The eighth batch of certificate course in Conservation, Environment and Forestry Studies (September, 2015 - May, 2016), which was conducted at Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environment (UWICE), formally concluded today with the convocation ceremony. Completion of Nature Guide and Eco-tourism Course at UWICE

The second batch of “Nature Guiding & Ecotourism course” which began on 3rd March 2016 concluded with the awarding of certificates at the institute on 29th April 2016. The certificate awarding ceremony was graced by Mr. Tshering Tempa, Officiating Director and attended by the faculty and other staff members. Officiating Director, on his keynote address, advised the graduates to make best use of the knowledge and skills they gained through this course in conserving Bhutan’s natural resources and in nature guiding & ecotourism.
